Benicia Plumbing, Inc. was founded in 1975, during one of the
longest economic slowdowns of the decade. Gerald Ford was president,
running for re-election against a little known Southern governor
named Jimmy Carter. The Vietnam War was just over, and WIN buttons
(Whip Inflation Now) were worn by White House talking heads on the
Sunday morning news shows. The economy was not doing well and the
building industry was not setting any records. However, Bill Cawley
knew these conditions would not last forever. Seeing an opportunity
to start a new plumbing company, he and his wife, Leeann, launched
Benicia Plumbing, Inc., with a sharp eye focused on the future.
Benicia Plumbing, Inc., grew steadily as the 1970's ended and
the 1980's began. Deciding to provide a broad range of services
to the construction industry, Bill's strategy was to not specialize
in any one facet of the trade, but to offer the full range of services.
This strategy worked beautifully, as evidenced by the rapid expansion
of his company. Today, Benicia Plumbing, Inc., employs some 150
people, providing complete plumbing services to businesses, industry,
homebuilders and homeowners throughout the Bay Area.
Today Benicia Plumbing, Inc., is owned by Bill Cawley and his
partner, Doug Kuznik. Together, they have built the company into
one of the leading plumbing construction companies in the East Bay.
Bill and Doug see their future success tied closely to their
industry involvement and their ability to attract and keep good
people on their team. Benicia Plumbing, Inc., is a company of
" People taking care of people". Building solid relationships
with all of its stake holders (employees, customers and suppliers)
is the key to the Benicia Plumbing, Inc. philosophy.
