- Do you know that the color traditionally associated with St. Patrick was blue, not green?
- There are 34.7 million US residents with Irish ancestry; more than seven times the population of Ireland itself!
- Your odds of finding a four-leaf clover are about 1 in 10,000
- To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, the Windy City dyes the Chicago River green for a few hours by dumping 40 lbs. of green dye into the water.
- The Irish name for leprechaun is lobaircin, which means “small-bodied fellow.”
- Corned beef and cabbage is a traditional St. Patrick’s Day dish in the United States (but not in Ireland!)

The Benicia Middle School PTSA is hosting its 1st Annual Innovative Grants Fundraiser on Friday, March 15, 2019.
In true St. Patrick's Day style, the "Shamrocks & Shenanigans" event will feature Irish-themed food, specialty-crafted brews and drinks (sponsored by Benicia Brüehol), live entertainment by Comedian Chelsea Bearce, dancing to the tunes of DJ Mike Deasy and a host of fun, interactive activities (including live & silent auction) that are sure to bring out the luck of the Irish! Best of all, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the BMS Innovative Grants Program. So what are you waiting for? Get yer green on and join us as we ShamRock the night away!
Guests must be 21+; ticket price includes Irish buffet, admission and live entertainment. St. Patrick's Day attire strongly encouraged.
